Oceana Bal Harbour, one of the most palatial structures in the area, is a condominium paradise, complete with flow-through residences and unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. Once home to the prodigious Bal Harbour Club, this undulating high-rise has since been transformed into a building lapped with luxury and refined design.
It is the permanent home to two of Jeff Koons original sculptures, including Pluto and Proserpina and Seated Ballerina, situtated in the building’s 60-foot-tall outdoor breezeway. The 22ft high vaulted lobby, designed Italian designer Pierro Lissoni, houses 10 addition pieces from artists around the world such as Jorge Mendez Blake, Juan Usle, Callum Innes, Garth Weiser, An Te Liu and Taryn Simon.
Across the street from Oceana Bal Harbour, is the private, and historic guard gated single family home community of The Village of Bal Harbour. There are 175 homes situated inside the community, each drawing on their own personal style from mid-century modern architecture to Mediterranean Revival traditional homes and new construction properties by internationally renowned designers. What once was a prisoner of war camp in the 1940’s, this prestigious and planned neighborhood offers homes priced from 2 million dollars to upwards of $35 million, all with private streets, large open spaces, a children park, and a private marina which allows for dockage of beautiful vessels as it has access to Haulover Inlet, which is one of two inlets in Miami Beach where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Intracoastal Waterway. It is both a peaceful and exclusive enclave which is truly a neighborhood, where kids go out and play, and the neighbors are like family. It is steps to the beach and both upscale shops at the Mall and local area retail in the adjacent town of Surfside. One of the truer walkable neighborhoods in South Florida.
